Licences and permits

Every licence, renewed before it lapses.

Registering a company lets it exist. A licence lets it trade. Most businesses hold more than one, each from a different authority with its own renewal date. A lapsed licence can hold up a bank account, a tender or a contract.

01 — The problem

Different authorities,
different dates.

The council that issues your trading permit does not talk to the regulator for your sector, and neither sends a reminder. In Botswana, for example:

Local authorities

Local business permits

BOCRA

Telecommunications and broadcasting

BERA

Energy and petroleum businesses

BoMRA

Medicines and medical products

NBFIRA

Non-bank financial services

02 — What you get

Every licence in one place,
with notice before it runs out.

001

One list of what you hold

Record each licence with its issuer, number and expiry date.

002

Notice before it lapses

Renewal reminders arrive by email alongside your tax and registry deadlines, early enough to act.

003

The certificate, ready to share

Keep each licence in your Africa Documents vault. A licensed professional can attest it, and anyone you send it to can check it online.

004

Help when you need it

Engage a licensed professional through the platform to prepare an application or renewal. They set their own fees, and the work and the signature stay theirs.

03 — Where it gets asked for

A current licence,
usually at short notice.

A bank

Opening an account

A buyer

Onboarding a supplier

A procuring entity

Evaluating a bid

Each asks for a current licence, and one that expired last month will not do.

04 — What we are not

Not a regulator.

Accountable Africa AI does not issue licences. Each authority sets its own requirements and fees, and they change. Confirm them with the issuing authority, or with the professional you engage, before you apply.

Keep every licence current.

We email you ahead of each renewal and each filing deadline, early enough to act on it.
